Save Net Radio

I’m ridiculously addicted to Internet radio. At work or home, I always have either Radio Paradise, [radio.wazee], or Aural Moon on, cranking out the tunes. I’ve made small donations to Radio Paradise and Aural Moon in the past, and will continue to do so in the future. And I’ve bought tons of CDs and seen several concerts, all thanks to the exposure the artists have recevied from these fine broadcasters.

Unfortunately, there’s some bad stuff going on right now with regards to the licensing fees for music performances that Internet broadcasters are being charged. Their fees are determined differently than how terrestrial and satellite broadcasters are determined, and it’s always been to the Internet broadcaster’s disadvantage. If the recently updated rates stand, on May 15th, 2007, not even the big Internet radio stations (or NPR, or your local radio stations that also stream music on the ‘net) would be able to afford the fees. If you listen to any sort of ‘net radio, take a quick look at Savenetradio.org. You can learn more about the problem and find out what steps you can take to keep the music playing.
